Well, training is officially in full swing, and my body has some thoughts about it.

This past week has been… eventful. My body and I have not been on the best of terms. Specifically, my hamstrings and hips have been throwing a bit of a tantrum—tight, achy, and downright uncooperative. I tried to be proactive about it: squats, lunges, stretching—you name it. But my legs just crossed their metaphorical arms and refused to play along.

So, I finally waved the white flag and booked an appointment with a physical therapist. And let me tell you, this guy is a wizard. Highly recommended, and now I see why. I had my first session today, and the verdict? I’m tight. Like “steel cables for hamstrings” tight.

He gave me a set of exercises and stretches to work on at home, but the real magic happened when he went to town on my glutes, hips, and lower back with some deep tissue work. It was the kind of massage that makes you question all your life choices—but in the best way. Painful? You bet. Effective? Absolutely. I walked out of there feeling looser and more hopeful, but I know this is going to take consistent work. I’ve already booked two more sessions because, honestly, I’d really like to stop feeling like an old rusty hinge.

Of course, I went for a run after my appointment. Stretched afterward like a responsible adult. And yet… here I am, feeling like I’ve reset the pain clock back to zero. Frustrating, but I'll get it.

On the bright side, my running is actually improving! My sprints are getting faster, and I can hold the pace for longer stretches without feeling like I’m dying. Even my recovery time is improving. And my long runs? They’re getting longer, which is always a win.

So, despite the setbacks, I’ll keep at it. One step, one stretch, one painfully necessary deep tissue massage at a time. Onward!

Below is some equipment and nutrition that will help me along the way. All are indispensable to me.
